Elementary School Teacher, Violin, (.6 FTE), Part-Time, Permanent and Temporary, 2024-2025 School Year

This position will work .6 FTE : (.5 FTE) will be Permanent and (.1 FTE ) will be Temporary.

Position Summary :

Sojourner School is a K-5 magnet school founded on the Multiple Intelligences theory of Dr. Howard Gardner, which identifies eight human intelligences that elementary schools should address to help children achieve their highest potential.

Classes are set up with two grades at each level. K-1 is Primary, 2-3 is Transitional and 4-5 is called Intermediate. As part of the Sojourner program students learn foundational skills for Spanish, Violin, ORFF Music, and also have a time for "Flow" which is a time to create and engineer.

This position is a classroom teaching position responsible for effective teaching and learning of the assigned subject(s) following district approved curriculum, instruction and assessment practices.

Responsibilities shall include student safety and appropriate collaboration and attention to each student’s readiness to learn including needed guidance, discipline, and welfare.

Employees may teach in a variety of elementary settings including individual or team teaching.

Job Group : Licensed Wage Placement Table

Salary :

  • Annual Salary Range (2024-2025) : $55,988 - $106,155 (193-Day Contract). Initial placement based on education, experience.
  • This salary range reflects 1.0 FTE. Actual salary is prorated based on FTE and start date.
  • Stipend(s) are pro-rated based on 1.0 FTE and start / end dates of position / assignment.
  • As a licensed employee, you are eligible to receive : A stipend of $2,500 if certified by NBPTS (National Board for Professional Teaching Standards).

A stipend of $3,000 if you hold a PhD or EdD.

Retirement Plan Contribution :

North Clackamas School District participates in the Oregon Public Employee Retirement System (PERS and OPSRP) on behalf of its employees.

The district contributes the employer portion; there is also a mandatory employee portion. Upon eligibility, which is defined as working at least six full calendar months in a qualifying position, the employee is required to contribute 6% as their employee portion, via payroll deduction.

Part-time employees working at least six months and 600 hours in a calendar year will qualify.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Successful completion of a teacher certification program at an accredited college or university.
  • Possess or able to obtain Oregon licensure with an elementary- multiple subjects (for elementary teaching positions).
  • Must have successful experience in working with culturally diverse families and communities, or have otherwise demonstrated a commitment to strengthening engagement of a diverse community and skill in communicating with a diverse population.
  • Evidence of continuous professional learning and a commitment to participate in professional growth opportunities and self-reflection on professional practice.
  • Demonstrated content knowledge for subjects / levels being taught.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with parents, students, and staff.
  • Commitment to effective collaboration and teaming within a professional learning community.
  • Skill in classroom management and ability to achieve, support, and maintain acceptable student behavior.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use appropriate and multiple assessment, instruction, and evaluation techniques.
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent development and ability to apply that knowledge to the selection and application of curriculum materials and instructional practices.
  • Knowledge and skill in the use of strategies necessary to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Knowledge and skill in culturally responsive teaching and learning.
  • Skill and ability to utilize technology to aid instruction, assessment and learning.
  • Any position specific special qualifications indicated in the recruitment process.
